Custom Retrofitting

The F.W. Webb Water Works Division excels at retrofitting old pipe with new. You’ll get high-quality outcomes and fast turnaround from our seasoned fabrication experts.

The F.W. Webb Water Works Division is the only authorized water works distributor in the area with a UL® (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) classified flanged ductile iron pipe fabrication shop. This industry-revered third-party classification is an assurance of the highest quality fabricated pipe available. When you see the bright yellow UL label on your shipment, you'll know with absolute confidence the pipe you ordered meets your precise specifications.

Our flanged ductile iron pipe also meets AWWA (American Water Works Association) standards. All the PVF and fire hydrants offered also meets AWWA standards, while the paint we use for pipe for potable water is approved by the NSF (National Sanitation Foundation).

Fabrication Services

In addition to providing UL-classified, AWWA-approved ductile iron flanged pipe, the company's highly-regarded 10,000-sq. ft. fabrication and machine shop provides exceptional and hard-to-find value-added services. Our highly experienced precision machinists are experts in making existing in-ground pipe compatible with new pipe and fittings – even when old and new are different sizes.

The shop features an array of sophisticated machinery, such as a double column boring mill, which can make Dutchman spacers and bore out large fittings, among other functions. It can reduce flanged pipe from 24" to 4", 6" or 8" with threaded nipple(s). The shop also features eight different lathe machines that fabricate flanged pipe in sizes from 3" to 48" diameter and 3" to 20-feet in length.

Services include drilling, tapping and welding. Products include customized valve keys, curb keys, fittings, extension stems, flanges, spacers, and bases. Many items can be fabricated and delivered throughout the Northeast in as little as one day.

Rounding out the shop is a welding area and paint room. The welding shop produces accessories and specialty items in days versus months. Fabricating a welded base 90 fitting, for example, can be completed within a week, while ordering a cast one from an outside foundry could take 30-60 days.
