Training, Support, and More: How F.W. Webb's Gasmobile Trailers Help LP Gas Professionals

Gasmobile Trailers Help LP Gas Professionals Gasmobile Trailers Help LP Gas Professionals

F.W. Webb's Gasmobile trailers have busy schedules. One of the trailers might start the week in Allentown, PA, for a log set training. After crisscrossing the state, it ends the week in western Pennsylvania, where it welcomes attendees for a basic LP gas class. Meanwhile, the other trailer might hold a generator training session in Maine and then head to New Hampshire the following day for a tank training class.

The jam-packed itineraries are a testament to the growing popularity of the convenient, on-the- go training, which indicates the benefits professionals derive from the experiences offered by F.W. Webb's LP Gas experts.

"Our Gasmobile trailers are a dynamic, versatile, and informative extension of the full-service commitment we make to our customers as we support them with every aspect of their work," says Michael DelConte, F.W. Webb's Vice President of Heating and LP Gas Sales. "These trailers align with the needs of busy professionals in our field. We bring our unique, hands-on training experience right to them, providing guidance and valuable product information in a format that resembles what they encounter in a typical day."

Here's what the Gasmobile trailers offer:

On-Site Training

Along with custom training, the trailers support more than a dozen training courses described in F.W. Webb's Gas Division Product Catalog, including:

  • Bulk plant maintenance
  • Pump station design and maintenance
  • Regulator operator/monitor
  • Basic LP class featuring line size, regulators, tank selection, code and more
  • Underground LP tank installation and cathodic protection
  • Vaporizers
  • Hearth Products

Training sessions can be held at a customer's location. A trailer will often stay on location for a day and a half and welcome attendees for several classes.

Depending on the content, the sessions last anywhere from a half hour for cathodic protection to six to eight hours for the basic LP class.

Dynamic Instruction

Because the trailers come well equipped with LP gas products, F.W. Webb can offer unique, hands-on learning opportunities. In one instance, class attendees can work on a direct fire vaporizer and perform the entire routine maintenance process. They remove the burner, take out the safety valves, simulate a relief valve replacement, and then reassemble the system part by part. Attendees complete the process by testing the vaporizer as they would in the field.

The trailers also support multimedia presentations. For example, a monitor inside the trailer displays a smart meter for a residential application in real time. Class attendees can see the meter's dashboard—including account information and other essential functions—as it would appear in an actual, on-the-job scenario.

In-Person Help

Because of the trailers' mobility, F.W. Webb's expert team can quickly provide in-person, on-site support. In one case, a customer was building out tanks for a structure. After arriving at the location, the F.W. Webb team determined that the tanks and gas line were undersized for the application. The system wouldn’t work as intended if changes weren’t made to the plan. The F.W. Webb team advised the customer to add a tank, increase the size of the gas line, and introduce a regulator to the system.

"When they utilize our Gasmobile trailers, our customers receive instruction or support from someone who comes from the field with real-world experience, who speaks the same language, who has seen the same jobs, and has the product and equipment available for immediate help," says DelConte.

Along with on-site guidance, F.W. Webb can lean on its trusted manufacturer partnerships to offer timely, convenient, and in-person product assistance during project troubleshooting.

DelConte and his team are thrilled to add Marshall Excelsior products to the trailers. The manufacturer of high-quality gas products recently became a trusted partner of F.W. Webb.

"In some cases, we'll demonstrate MEC's dispensing valves, actuators, POL connections, and other equipment in a product showcase. We'll also collaborate with bulk plant builders, fuel dealers, and others to determine their needs and create MEC training sessions tailored to their work," DelConte says.

As the partnership with Marshall Excelsior grows, the bulk plant training course offered at the trailer will be outfitted with the manufacturer’s equipment. Marshall Excelsior has also shared videos, slides, and other training materials that are already incorporated into Gasmobile presentations.

"Because of our industry-leading partnerships with top innovators like Marshall Excelsior, we can offer the best products and customized solutions for all residential and commercial projects," says DelConte. "Our partnerships and end-to-end support—including the benefits offered by our Gasmobile trailers—demonstrate how we can help make our customers' work easier and their businesses more efficient."
